A special piece of equipment installed in the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre, the femtosecond laser, helps researchers better understand light-dependent processes such as photosynthesis, solar energy conversion and luminescent chemical sensing. As the world’s fastest camera and most powerful microscope with an ultrafast detection system, the device improves understanding of the earliest events following light absorption by molecules.
