Using fungus to help control a fungal disease in onions

Mycologist Dr Allison Walker and her MSc student, Adele Bunbury-Blanchette, have been investigating methods to control Fusarium basal rot in onions. The disease is estimated to cause an annual loss of ca. $600,000 to Annapolis Valley farmers, and has the potential to completely devastate the NS onion industry.  Their work, which is primarily conducted in K.C. Irving Centre greenhouses and growth cabinets, was recently profiled in an article in the Atlantic Farm Focus.
