An Invitation to Connect: Discovering Botanical Medicine at the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens
If you’ve ever wandered through the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens and wondered what stories the plants might tell, this is your chance to listen.
New this summer, Botanical Medicine in the Annapolis Valley is a guided experience unlike anything the Gardens have hosted before. In partnership with Ramblewood Herbals and foodartnature, this offering invites you to slow down, tune in, and experience the plant world through the eyes of herbalist and biologist Benna Keoghoe.
With deep Nova Scotian roots and over a decade of experience in herbal medicine, Benna brings a grounded, heartful approach to every walk she leads. Her passion lies in reconnecting people to the land—not through textbooks or lectures, but through touch, taste, and story. Under her guidance, you’ll learn how to identify local medicinal plants, discover their traditional uses, and craft your own herbal remedy to take home.
For many, it feels like remembering something ancient. A return to what we once knew.

This new partnership offers not just education, but a chance for real connection – to place, to self, and to a quiet wisdom held in the petals, roots, and leaves of our local ecosystem. Acadia students are warmly welcomed with two pay-what-you-can tickets for each date, ensuring access to this healing, hands-on experience.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, a budding herbalist or simply someone who loves the outdoors, this is an invitation to step off the path, breathe deeply, and discover the hidden stories of the gardens.
