
Introduction to the Night Sky – All Day Course
The Blomidon Naturalist Society and Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens are excited to co-host a full day course in the classroom and under the stars.
Sunday November 23, 1-8pm
Come learn about the wonders of the night sky! This course will cover the basics of observing the night sky including:
- Basic geometry, the sky as viewed from Earth
- Optical viewing, brightness of objects
- Constellations: the signposts of the sky
- Cycles in the Sky: different stars for different season, planets, Moon phases, eclipses
- Charts and finding objects of interest
- Binoculars are your best first telescope
- Light pollution
