Juliet is a 2023 graduate from Cole Harbour District High School in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. As a strong advocate for social justice and inclusion within environmental education and recreation, Juliet has completed over 550 hours in community service throughout the past two years. Juliet has volunteered in multiple capacities and now works for the Adventure Earth Centre, an organization offered through the Halifax Regional Municipality that offers outdoor, environmental educational programming for children, youth, and adults. Juliet has also been an active volunteer with the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s WILD Outside program and the Young Naturalist’s Nature Guardians Program. Juliet completed numerous conservation related projects with these organizations that include bird population counts, native plant species re-planting, bat box and turtle nest box, and water quality testing. Juliet’s passion for ecology and conservation led her to undertake an environmental study on the effect of mechanical seed scarification on the germination rate of native Nova Scotia milkweed seeds. As part of her study, Juliet grew milkweed plants and is working with local organizations in her community to plant them in local parks and greenspaces to help monarch butterflies.

Juliet will be pursuing a BCD in Community Development with Environmental and Sustainability Studies in the fall of 2023 and plans to continue finding inclusive and creative ways to share the values of community learning, sustainability, and environmental education with others.
