Roman Javorek from Canning, Nova Scotia, is a 2020 graduate of Northeast Kings Education Centre (NKEC). Roman played Minor Midget AAA Hockey for the Valley Wildcats and was the assistant captain of his High School Hockey team from 2018 to 2020. Roman won the outstanding student award at NKEC in 2019 and the Valley Wildcats Volunteerism and Community Service award in 2018. AT NKEC, he was the leader of the Environmental Committee, and in November of 2019, Roman was selected as one of 13 students from across Canada to travel to Edmonton Alberta to draft a position paper on the youth perspective on the 2030 Decade of Ocean Science goals for the United Nations.

Roman will be pursuing his BSc. in Biology at Acadia beginning in September 2020, and he hopes to use the multidisciplinary approach in environmental biology to explore the role that humans can play in reducing environmental impact.
