Sarah Murimboh is a 2026 partial IB graduate from Horton High School and is from Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Sarah’s love of nature began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she started taking daily hikes with her family. Immersing herself in nature and observing firsthand the negative impacts humans have on the environment led to her dream of becoming a conservation biologist.

Sarah’s passion for nature inspired her to conduct annual science fair projects from grades 7 through 12 on environmental issues. Sarah’s projects have received awards at the regional, provincial, and national levels and allowed her the opportunity to attend the Canada-wide Science Fair four times.

Sarah strongly believes in the importance of teaching the next generation to value science and the environment. She has been a long-time youth leader for a Messy Science Day program, providing hands-on science activities for kids. As a keen reptile enthusiast, Sarah has been working with her local snake educator, For Pete’s Snakes, since she was fourteen, helping people to overcome their fear of snakes and advocating for these often-misunderstood animals.

At her school, Sarah was a member of the robotics club for three years, started a formal debate club, and founded the Critter Care Club dedicated to improving the care of her teacher’s classroom pets. She is a figure skater at her local skating club and volunteers as a Program Assistant with CanSkate, a learn-to-skate program for children. Sarah also runs a small business breeding and selling invertebrates for reptile keepers.

Sarah will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biology with plans to obtain a second major in Environmental Science. She is very excited to do research and field work at Acadia University and hopes to connect with people who share her passion for the natural world.
